MEET THE SMIT FAMILY
A Malmesbury family with a passion for the finer things in life.
Karin, owner and founder of Cherry Lane, has been in the industry for over 30 years. With her knowledge, attention to detail and impeccable style a quaint country-style coffee shop on a suburban street in the heart of the Swartland was born.
Together with her husband, Wim Smit, who is resident winemaker and owner of Hofstraat cellar. He is a very well known commercial builder in Malmesbury and the surrounding Swartland. He took his esthetic perfection of building practices and directly applied it to his hobby, winemaking. Hofstraat cellar, with Renosterbos being its flagship wine, has been officially registered in 2002 and has won many a prestigious award and accolades, making it a staple in the winemaking community and the Swartland Wine & Olive route.
In 2020, Renosterbos Wines opened a brand new restaurant at their brand home, Myrtledene, in Malmesbury. Café Myrtledene is a family restaurant owned by Lawrence Smit. Chef Lawrence has worked all over South Africa and promises to tantalize your taste buds.
